A rainy Sunday night was no damper on the energy that Indianapolis brought for Driveways’ “It’s Been A Decade Now” Tour, which brought the Massachusetts natives to Indianapolis for the first time, and the crowd made sure it wouldn’t be the last time.
Waking the crowd up early in the night was Action/Adventure, who are no strangers to Indianapolis’ music scene and who overcame obstacle after obstacle to make the night happen. From a slew of van issues to robbery, Action/Adventure showcased their resiliency and refusal to let anything come between them and their dreams on stage. They brought a headliners worth of energy that got the moshing legs loose and perfectly opened the night while making sure to give special shoutouts to a couple Indy day one fans and the DIY venue, The Hoosier Dome, that gave them their Indianapolis footing.

Following the bouncing energy was the unique grit and emotion that Like Roses brought to the stage. Like Roses have been building a solid footing in the music industry and the crowd was no stranger to welcoming them. Their set was full of infectious energy that had the crowd jumping and singing along. Even those who may have been unfamiliar with Like Roses quickly found themselves drawn into the performance, proving the band’s ability to win over new listeners just as easily as they satisfy longtime fans. By the end of their set, Like Roses had done far more than warm up the crowd; they left a lasting impression.

After a decade of waiting, it was time for the moment Indianapolis had been waiting for when Driveways would step on an Indianapolis stage for the first time, unaware of just how ready the crowd was. Driveways opened with a bam immediately ripping into the starting notes of “Motions” and getting attendees on their feet. Crowds are always loud, but the emotion in the room was unparalleled as every lyric was sung back. This tour encompasses many first for Driveways, not just playing in Indianapolis but also their longest tour, and first headliner but they showed up and put on a show that rivaled seasoned pros.
The night came to a close with “October Forever” which treated fans to a special feature from the vocalist of Indiana’s own, “The Wise Man’s Fear” but also a moment that rattled through the hearts of everyone in the room, young to old, as the band dropped off and let the crowd take over singing the last chorus resulting in a moment that can only be described as magical.
Driveway’ bassist took to Instagram stories the following day to rate the crowd giving us an overall score of 9.7/10. Major factors included being the loudest crowd and Larry Bird’s Indiana association, but we lost 0.3 points for having puddles in the parking lot that claimed their football, it’s the midwest after all, what can we say?
