What started as a few high school DMs has quickly grown into something much bigger for Deux Visages. The Philadelphia-based trio; Daphney Hanono, Jack Chiu, and Tony Jouvin have spent the past few years turning their unpredictable beginnings into a sound that blends dreamy textures, soaring guitars, raw emotion, and the intensity of rock.
The band first came together while still in high school, connecting online before their live performances began attracting serious attention. After signing with Atlantic Records, Deux Visages continued building momentum through a run of singles, an EP, and tours alongside artists including Mannequin P*ssy, julie, and Wunderhorse. The members also made the move from Miami to Philadelphia, giving the group a new home while they continued developing their identity.
Now, Deux Visages are entering another chapter. The trio has announced its debut full-length album, Call It Goodbye, which will also mark their first release with Pure Noise Records. The album looks at that uncomfortable period between who you were and who you’re becoming. Across the record, Deux Visages explore uncertainty, self-doubt, change, and the strange experience of growing up while everything around you seems to be moving at once.
Their latest single, “Automatic,” brings that feeling into focus. Released alongside a new music video, the track digs into the kind of self-questioning that can make someone feel insignificant or trapped in predictable patterns. For Hanano, some of that emotion comes directly from the band’s early experience in the music industry. Their first record deal arrived while Deux Visages were still finding their footing, and suddenly they were dealing with opportunities and changes they didn’t necessarily feel prepared for.
That vulnerability becomes part of the song’s appeal. Rather than presenting confidence as something they’ve always possessed, “Automatic” captures a moment when the band was still trying to understand whether they belonged in the world they had unexpectedly entered.
Musically, Deux Visages build that uncertainty into something much larger. Their songs move between hazy, dreamlike passages and bursts of distorted guitar, creating a constant push and pull between softness and force. Call It Goodbye was recorded in Miami with Arquimides “Arkii” Cala, a longtime friend who has been behind the band’s music since its earliest days, including their first single, “Cheetah.” His familiarity with the group helped capture the expansive quality that has become central to Deux Visages‘ sound.
The album moves through several different emotional spaces. “Always You” brings an expansive, euphoric energy, while “Behind” takes a more immediate approach. By the time the title track arrives, the mood becomes more urgent, confronting the frustration that comes with realizing time doesn’t stop while you’re trying to figure yourself out. Taken as a whole, Call It Goodbye feels like a snapshot of a band growing alongside its audience. The songs don’t ignore the confusion and insecurity that come with change; instead, they turn those feelings into something motivating.
For Deux Visages, saying goodbye isn’t necessarily about forgetting where they came from. It’s about recognizing what no longer belongs to them and finding the confidence to move forward. After recently completing a North American tour with Sweet Pill, Deux Visages are already looking toward their next run of shows. The band will join The Linda Lindas as special guests on their upcoming East Coast dates, including stops in New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston.
With their debut album on the horizon, Deux Visages are leaving their early years behind while stepping into a much bigger version of themselves.
