San Diego’s The Schizophonics are turning up the volume with their latest single, “Sweat and Blood,” the second preview of their upcoming album Burning Floor. The record is scheduled for release in early 2027 through Alternative Tentacles, following the band’s recent signing with the label. Arriving as the trio kicks off a new stretch of North American touring, “Sweat and Blood” delivers the kind of high-energy collision of rock, funk, and punk that has become central to The Schizophonics’ sound. A gritty, fuzz-heavy guitar riff drives the track while a danceable, Motown-inspired groove keeps the song moving with relentless momentum.
Vocalist and guitarist Pat Beers describes the song as both a physical dance-floor workout and a statement against artificial intelligence, bringing a confrontational edge to the band’s naturally celebratory approach to music. The new release follows “Black Pleather,” an earlier single from Burning Floor that showcased the band’s frantic punk energy and blistering guitar work. Together, the singles offer an early glimpse into what listeners can expect from the forthcoming album.
The Schizophonics are currently on the road across North America, with upcoming dates featuring Fever Dog, Descartes a Kant, and Dale Crover on select shows. With Burning Floor on the horizon, the band continues to build on its reputation for explosive live performances and genre-bending rock.
