Portland’s Bridge City Sinners are preparing for another busy stretch on the road, announcing their return to the UK and Ireland this fall with the Repent and Repeat tour. The run begins September 30 in Brighton and continues through October 11. The band will then return to the U.S. for a series of West Coast Trick or Treat performances later in October before heading to Texas in November for three shows alongside Streetlight Manifesto.
Known for their unconventional blend of folk, punk, and old-time influences, Bridge City Sinners build their sound around banjo, fiddle, guitar, upright bass, and ukulele. Their music can shift from haunting, atmospheric storytelling to energetic numbers designed for a crowd to sing along with, helping the group establish a strong presence within the roots and punk communities.
For guitarist, vocalist, and co-writer King Strang, the upcoming UK dates mark an especially exciting return after a two-year absence. The band is also looking forward to making the most of its Halloween performances and sharing the stage with Streetlight Manifesto, a band Strang says holds a special place in the memories of many fans.
Bridge City Sinners’ story began on the streets of Portland. Vocalist Libby Lux and upright bassist Scott Michaud were already performing together as street musicians before the project officially came together in 2016. Initially operating as a loose collective of friends rather than a traditional band, the group developed its identity through years of traveling, busking, and making music wherever opportunities arose.
That independent spirit remains central to the band today. Michaud founded Flail Records, the label behind their releases, creating a platform rooted in collaboration and DIY or, as the community calls it, “do it together” values. The approach allows independent musicians to work collectively while maintaining creative control over their releases. Their most recent album, In the Age of Doubt, continued to expand the band’s reach, reaching No. 2 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums chart along with appearances on the Emerging Artists, Heatseekers, and Top Current Album Sales charts.
With new music planned for 2027, Bridge City Sinners are keeping their momentum going both onstage and in the studio.
