Hayes Warner Unveils “Seriously,” a Character-Driven New Single From FX’s The Shards Soundtrack

Hayes Warner is bringing her on-screen character’s perspective into the music spotlight with “Seriously,” a new single featured on the upcoming The Shards Original Soundtrack. Released October 9 through Interscope Records, the track offers a closer look at the emotional world of Debbie Schaffer, the character Warner portrays in FX’s drama series.

Written by Cal Shapiro, Leland, Hayes Warner, and Sarah Hudson, with production from Zhone, “Seriously” was created specifically from Debbie’s point of view, connecting Warner’s musical performance with the character’s place within the show’s narrative. The result adds another dimension to the series, allowing audiences to experience its fictional world through an original song rather than the screen alone.

The single arrives ahead of The Shards Original Soundtrack, scheduled for release October 16. Spanning 16 tracks, the collection combines original songs from Troye Sivan, Hayes Warner, and Leland with an original score composed by Morgan Kibby and David Klotz. Together, the music captures the atmosphere of the series while helping establish the emotional tension and distinctive identity of its setting.

Based in 1980s Los Angeles, The Shards explores the complicated lives of privileged teenagers attending an elite preparatory school. Beneath the glamour of their surroundings, the characters confront questions of identity, desire, jealousy, and obsession, while darker dangers begin to emerge from the world around them. The soundtrack plays an integral role in bringing that uneasy atmosphere to life. With all nine episodes now available to stream on Hulu, listeners can revisit the series through its music when the complete soundtrack arrives later this month.

“Seriously” marks another opportunity for Warner to connect her work as a recording artist with her role in the series, offering fans a new perspective on Debbie Schaffer while building anticipation for the full soundtrack. The single and its accompanying visualizer are available now, with the complete The Shards Original Soundtrack arriving October 16.

Pre-save the soundtrack on Spotify and Apple Music.
