Sydney indie-pop duo Scatter Light are embracing the beauty of slowing down with their latest single, “The View,” a sun-soaked release that captures the freedom of leaving everyday responsibilities behind and enjoying the moment. Comprised of Ollie Williams and James Schubert, the duo have spent the past year building their presence on the live circuit, sharing stages with acts including The Grogans, Le Shiv, egoism, and Crocodylus.
Driven by dreamy guitar work and laid-back rhythms, “The View” feels like the soundtrack to a summer afternoon with nowhere to be and no reason to rush. Its hazy, psychedelic sound brings to mind long drives along the coast, windows rolled down, and conversations that continue long after the original topic has been forgotten. Rather than focusing on a particular destination, the song celebrates the little moments that make life feel lighter.
Williams describes the track as the feeling of driving past the beach with your favorite people, enjoying a sunny day without worrying about what comes next. That sense of freedom carries through the chorus, reflecting the simple joy of having time to yourself without the usual pressures of daily life.
Alongside the single, Scatter Light have released an official music video directed by Riley O’Toole. Filmed around the scenic Sea Cliff Bridge coastline and the quieter northern suburbs of Wollongong, the visuals complement the track’s laid-back atmosphere through coastal scenery, nostalgic colors, and a slower pace that encourages viewers to take a breath and enjoy their surroundings.
Recorded in the duo’s home studio in New South Wales, “The View” also offers the first glimpse into Scatter Light’s forthcoming debut album, currently in development and expected to arrive in 2027. With their swirling instrumentation and sun-drenched indie-pop sound, the duo are beginning an exciting new chapter while continuing to bring their music to audiences across New South Wales, with upcoming appearances alongside Sleepazoid, Le Shiv, and other artists.
Sometimes, the best moments happen when we stop worrying about what’s next. With “The View,” Scatter Light turn that feeling into a warm, nostalgic soundtrack for anyone craving a little more freedom and a little less rush.
