Luke Tyler Shelton begins a new chapter with the release of his latest single “Reasons,” marking his first release of the year. Built around a delicate piano arrangement, the track puts Shelton’s emotive vocals and honest songwriting front and center, creating a sound that feels both fresh and familiar.
Recorded and produced by Jonny Bell (Cage The Elephant, Zella Day, Chicano Batman) in Long Beach, “Reasons” draws inspiration from the timeless songwriting of artists like Harry Nilsson and Todd Rundgren, while incorporating the intimate, understated influence of Clairo. The result is a reflective glimpse into Shelton’s evolving artistry and the direction of his next musical chapter.
Speaking about the track, Shelton reveals that “Reasons” holds a deeply personal meaning. As the first song he has written on piano, the track allowed him to step outside his own perspective and explore the emotions of someone he loves.
“The song is bittersweet for me because I had written it from the perspective of my girlfriend at a hard time in our relationship, But putting myself in her headspace through my music allowed me to relate to her experience in a really cool way.” – Shelton
