Philadelphia-based collective SNACKTIME continues its rapid rise after an unforgettable weekend at Newport Folk Festival, where the band delivered one of the festival’s standout performances and shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music.
The group closed out the weekend with a packed Fort Stage set featuring special appearances from Devon Gilfillian, Trousdale, and Louis Cato, turning the performance into a celebration of collaboration, community, and the spontaneous energy that has become a defining part of Newport Folk Festival.
SNACKTIME’s memorable weekend began with a surprise appearance alongside Ms. Lauryn Hill during her acoustic performance of “Doo Wop (That Thing),” creating one of the festival’s most talked-about moments. Throughout the weekend, the band continued to connect with artists across genres, sharing performances with Matt Quinn of Mt. Joy, Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers, Trousdale, The Barr Brothers, and more. The band also joined Devon Gilfillian during his “Sea to Shining Sea” set before taking part in an intimate after-hours Newport jam featuring John C. Reilly, Cory Wong, and members of Vulfpeck.
Known for their explosive live energy and genre-blending sound, SNACKTIME’s journey began with free outdoor performances in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square during the summer of 2020. Since then, the band has transformed from a local sensation into one of the most exciting emerging live acts in the country.
The past year has brought a wave of major milestones for the group, including performances at Boston Calling and Roots Picnic, a tour supporting Fitz and the Tantrums, a role as the house band for ESPN’s They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce, a 2026 Libera Awards nomination for “Self-Released Record of the Year,” and recognition on the National Independent Venue Association’s NIVA Live List honoring standout independent artists.
Following their Newport Folk Festival takeover, SNACKTIME is keeping the momentum going with another major festival appearance as they make their Lollapalooza debut in Chicago, continuing what has become a breakout year for one of live music’s most exciting new forces.
