Pennsylvania metalcore outfit If Not For Me continue their journey toward their upcoming album Where The Light Begins To Fade with their emotionally charged new single “Lie Awake” featuring Wind Walkers. Blending crushing heaviness with raw vulnerability, the track captures the complicated emotions of holding onto a relationship that you know is hurting you, but still can’t seem to leave behind.
From the opening moments, “Lie Awake” pulls listeners into a storm of emotional conflict. The song balances aggressive metalcore intensity with soaring melodies, creating a push and pull dynamic that mirrors the unstable relationship at its center. Heavy instrumentation crashes against moments of haunting atmosphere, allowing the track to feel both explosive and deeply personal.
At its core, “Lie Awake” explores the addictive nature of toxic love the way passion and pain can become intertwined until it is difficult to tell the difference between comfort and destruction. Vocalist Patrick Glover delivers the song’s emotional weight with a performance that shifts between desperation, anger, and longing, bringing the complicated story to life.
The track’s lyrical contrast is where it truly shines. The first half captures the intoxicating side of a connection that feels impossible to resist, while the darker moments reveal the damage left behind. “’Lie Awake’ to me is almost like a spiritual successor to ‘Feel Me Now’ that takes the story a little deeper. I just love the dynamic of a toxic love that feels good on the surface, but you both know you’re only hurting each other in the end. I think what landed so hard with people in ‘Feel Me Now’ is the descriptive imagery, so I wanted to play really heavily with that lustful desire in the chorus with lines like ‘feel my hands running down your face’ and ‘did you forget how I made you shake, how I taste’ but then totally contrast it in the back half with ‘does it hurt when you scream my name,’ ‘I’m your pain,’ etc. It just feels like such a relatable story that we’ve all had to go through at one point or another and may even still keep us up at night.” – Patrick Glover
Trevor Borg shares, “When the guys in If Not For Me asked me to be part of this song, it felt like a collaboration that had been a long time coming after years of crossing paths through Wind Walkers and working with many of the same people.
