Hinterland Music Festival is ready to return for its 11th annual celebration, bringing four unforgettable days of music to St. Charles, Iowa, from Thursday, July 30 through Sunday, August 2. Located just 30 minutes south of Des Moines, the beloved independent festival has become one of the Midwest’s most anticipated events, known for pairing globally recognized artists with the next wave of rising talent.
With a reputation for thoughtful and exciting curation, founder and producer Sam Summers continues to build a lineup that reflects the ever changing landscape of music. The 2026 festival will showcase a diverse mix of sounds spanning pop, indie, rock, R&B, Latin, folk, and alternative, creating an experience that celebrates both established favorites and artists on the verge of breaking through.
This year’s lineup brings together Grammy winners, chart-topping acts, viral sensations, and emerging artists with passionate fanbases offering fans the perfect balance of unforgettable performances and new discoveries.
Leading the 2026 lineup are KATSEYE, Lorde, Mumford & Sons, and Kali Uchis, bringing four powerhouse performances to the Hinterland stage. Beyond its headliners, the festival continues to spotlight some of the most exciting voices shaping music today. Young Miko brings the bold energy of Puerto Rico’s Latin trap and reggaeton scene, while MUNA delivers the emotional, anthemic performances that have earned them a devoted following.
Beyond the music, Hinterland 2026 is expanding the festival experience with new activities, upgraded amenities, and more ways for fans to explore the grounds. Attendees can return to favorites like the HinterMarket, White Claw Hammock Hang, daily yoga and sound baths, and the expanded MiniLand family area, while also discovering new food vendors, art installations, and interactive experiences throughout the festival.
The expanded grounds now cover nearly 400 acres, featuring more than 3.5 miles of trails, a sunflower field, a new disc golf course, wildlife-themed paths, and other hidden surprises. A new permanent stage and expanded festival footprint mark a major milestone in Hinterland’s continued growth.
Fans will also find upgraded accommodations, including a new GA+ experience with a private lounge, air-conditioned restrooms, dedicated food and bar options, improved parking and camping layouts, and added RV services.
With tent camping, car camping, RV sites, glamping, and shuttle options available, Hinterland offers fans multiple ways to make the most of the weekend.
