Japan’s genre-defying metal force BROKEN BY THE SCREAM is ushering in an exciting new chapter with the release of “花鏑 [HANAKABURA],” the band’s first single under Metal Blade Records.
Known for their fearless fusion of soaring idol-style vocals, razor sharp metalcore, and crushing extreme metal, the quartet once again blurs the boundaries between melody and chaos. Performed by vocalists Tsubaki Nanaougi, Shizuku Mikogami, Yayoi Takayashiki, and Io Nozukidaira, “花鏑 [HANAKABURA]” delivers towering hooks, punishing breakdowns, and explosive screams that showcase the band’s unmistakable sound while signaling an ambitious step forward.
The single also carries symbolic meaning for the band as they begin their partnership with Metal Blade Records. Inspired by the ancient Japanese Kaburaya arrow—historically fired to announce the start of battle; the group created the title “HANAKABURA,” imagining the ceremonial arrow slicing through drifting cherry blossom petals. For BROKEN BY THE SCREAM, it represents the beginning of a bold new era.
“Everyone in BROKEN BY THE SCREAM is truly excited and honored to release music through Metal Blade Records,” the band shares. “We feel ‘HANAKABURA’ is the perfect song to mark the beginning of our own battle and a new chapter for the band.
One of the tour’s biggest highlights comes with a mainstage performance at Wacken Open Air, where BROKEN BY THE SCREAM will share its boundary-pushing sound with one of the world’s largest heavy music audiences. The trek also includes appearances at Summer Breeze and Reload Festival, further showcasing why the Japanese quartet has become one of modern metal’s most distinctive live acts.
