Cade Hoppe embraces life’s detours on new single and video “Lake Michigan”

On July 10, 2026– Indie-pop artist Cade Hoppe returns with his new single “Lake Michigan,” accompanied by an official music video. The track leans into warm grooves and shimmering melodies, carrying a sense of openness and motion as Hoppe reflects on ambition, expectation, and learning to live with the detours that inevitably come with both.

It’s a story about driving from the East Coast to the West Coast, hoping to make it to the Pacific Ocean, but life never goes as planned, and sometimes you’ve got to make peace with only ever making it to Lake Michigan—after all, they basically look the same.” – Hoppe

At its core, “Lake Michigan” is almost like a road trip story where the destination doesn’t quite match the dream. Hoppe describes it as a journey from the East Coast to the West Coast with the goal of reaching the Pacific Ocean, only to realize life doesn’t always follow the route you planned. Sometimes, he suggests, you end up somewhere like Lake Michigan instead and have to learn to sit with the idea that it might be enough.

Since his debut EP Tell Me How It’s Worth It in 2021, Hoppe has built a steady catalog of emotionally direct, cinematic indie-pop, followed by Everything That’s Wrong with You in 2022 and Just Look At The Moon in 2023. His work has since earned support from outlets like Notion, Ones To Watch, and EARMILK, helping establish him as a voice in the space that blends vulnerability with forward motion
