EDIE expands the world of her sophomore EP Garden of Edie with the official music video for “Burning,” a visually striking exploration of survival, self-discovery, and emotional liberation.
Directed by Stephanie Senior, the cinematic video unfolds inside a candlelit mansion during a violent storm, immersing viewers in a gothic atmosphere where every shadow reflects the weight of a toxic relationship. Clad in Renaissance-inspired attire, EDIE navigates the mansion’s dimly lit halls while attempting to evade a looming, controlling figure, creating a palpable sense of fear and isolation.
As the story reaches its emotional climax, EDIE discovers another version of herself hidden inside a wardrobe; a powerful metaphor for the identity she lost while trapped in the relationship. The two reunite and escape together as the mansion is engulfed in flames, transforming destruction into a symbol of renewal and reclaiming one’s sense of self.
Blending elements of gothic horror with period drama, “Burning” elevates the song’s themes beyond heartbreak, focusing instead on the courage it takes to leave behind emotional abuse and reconnect with the parts of ourselves buried by fear and grief. Rich in symbolism and cinematic detail, the video serves as a compelling visual companion to one of Garden of Edie‘s most emotionally resonant tracks.
