Emily Wolfe Unleashes Her Most Unfiltered Side Yet With New Single “Power”

Fresh from the road after touring alongside YUNGBLUD, Austin rocker and guitar powerhouse Emily Wolfe is stepping into a new chapter with her latest single, “Power.” The track is the second preview of Wolfe’s upcoming album, which is slated for release later this year through Judge & Jury Records, and it finds the artist leaning fully into instinct, desire, and the parts of ourselves we often keep hidden.

Rather than disguising its message, “Power” puts everything on the table. Wolfe approaches human desire without hesitation, challenging the idea that certain wants need to be softened or made more acceptable. At its core, the song examines what remains when expectations and outside judgment are stripped away.

For Wolfe, the answer comes down to four simple words: power, sex, honey, and flesh. They aren’t intended to shock simply for the sake of being provocative. Instead, they reflect the physical and emotional impulses that exist underneath the polished version of ourselves we present to the world.

“What do we all really want? If you strip everything away, what is it? Power. Sex. Honey. Flesh. Primal. The most fundamental human desires. I think everybody wants those things, they just don’t always say it out loud. That song is me saying it out loud.”

That willingness to say the quiet part out loud has become an important part of Wolfe’s artistic identity. “Power” doesn’t apologize for wanting, feeling, or taking ownership of one’s own desires. There is something deliberately confrontational about its honesty, but beneath that edge is a much more human idea: everyone has impulses they don’t always know how to express.

Wolfe has spent more than a decade establishing herself as an artist who refuses to fit neatly into anyone else’s expectations. Based in Austin, she has built a career around songwriting, performance, and guitar-driven music while maintaining an unmistakably independent presence within modern rock. Her catalog has earned millions of streams and recognition from outlets including The Wall Street Journal, MTV, Guitar Player, Paste, and American Songwriter. Her track “Atta Blues” has alone surpassed two million Spotify streams.

Her musicianship has also continued to draw attention beyond her own releases. Wolfe recently appeared in Musora Studios’ Covers Challenge, where she was handed Billie Eilish’s “Ocean Eyes” without knowing what song she would be asked to tackle. After initially putting her own spin on the track, she was given an unexpected second challenge: reinterpret it as though it had come from one of her biggest influences, Black Sabbath.

The result transformed the atmospheric pop song into a heavy, riff-driven performance. Wolfe constructed a vintage-style guitar sound from the ground up, worked with an entirely new rhythm section, and gave “Ocean Eyes” a distinctly Sabbath-inspired identity. The performance has since generated more than 2.2 million views and 163,000 likes, further highlighting the versatility behind her playing.

Wolfe’s relationship with Gibson has also grown into a major part of her career, with the guitarist holding two signature guitar models. She additionally shares Epiphone signature artist status with TOOL’s Adam Jones, who became a fan of her work and personally asked Wolfe to open for TOOL.

Her upcoming album follows three previous studio releases and years of international touring, with Wolfe having performed alongside artists including TOOL, The Gaslight Anthem, and YUNGBLUD. Her most recent single, “Lips,” was produced by Gavin Brown and features Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes, offering another glimpse into the direction of her next record.

The road ahead is already packed. Wolfe will join Frank Turner this September, including dates surrounding his Lost Evenings IX festival, before heading back out in October for a run with The Toadies.

With “Power,” however, Wolfe isn’t simply introducing another song. She’s offering a glimpse into an era where restraint takes a back seat to instinct and where being completely honest about what you want can be its own form of power.
