FEAR FACTORY Reboot the Machine: “Roboticist” Opens a New Chapter

After more than 30 years of turning technology, automation, and humanity’s uneasy relationship with machines into some of industrial metal’s most enduring material, FEAR FACTORY are stepping into their next era with “Roboticist.” Premiering on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal, the new single introduces listeners to the band’s current lineup in the studio, featuring vocalist Milo Silvestro, drummer Pete Webber, and bassist Tony Campos alongside guitarist Dino Cazares. Rather than presenting the lineup change as a footnote, “Roboticist” makes it impossible to ignore that something new is being built.

The song carries many of the qualities that have made FEAR FACTORY such a distinctive force: tightly controlled rhythms, industrial textures, punishing guitars, and a sense of machinery operating at maximum capacity. Yet there is also a darker melodic element running through the track, giving the song an emotional dimension beneath all of its metallic precision. “Roboticist” imagines a future where the human body may eventually become obsolete, leaving consciousness as the final piece of humanity worth preserving. It’s an appropriately bleak idea for a band that has spent decades examining what happens when technology stops being something humans control and starts becoming something humans fear.

The single was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Damien Rainaud, while the accompanying cinematic video was directed by Vincente Cordero and produced by Arion Csihar.

For Cazares, the song represents much more than a new release.

“The future isn’t coming. It’s already here,” says Cazares. “‘Roboticist’ is the next evolution of Fear Factory. Man, Machine and the war for what comes next.”

And with “Roboticist,” that war has officially begun.
