Brisbane/Meanjin artist Harley taps into that idea on “Gold,” an upbeat yet emotionally revealing indie-pop/rock single that turns vulnerability into its greatest strength.
Set for release August 14, “Gold” is the third and final preview of Harley’s forthcoming six-track debut EP, arriving September 18. Rather than simply functioning as another feel good indie track, the song feels like a personal turning point. Harley uses bright melodies and an infectious rhythm to explore love, loss, independence, trust, and the difficult process of accepting that change is inevitable.
What immediately makes “Gold” stand out is the contrast between its breezy musical personality and the emotional weight underneath it. Harley isn’t approaching vulnerability as weakness. Instead, he presents it as something liberating.
