On June 26, 2026- Julez and the Rollerz will release their debut full-length album Dirty Little Rock ‘N’ Roller via Lollipop Records. You can pre-order the album HERE! The band is excited to share their new single “Phaser.”
“‘Phaser’ came out of a jam the band had in late 2023 at our (then ‘new’) rehearsal space, which we share with some of our favorite bands in Los Angeles. It’s been part of our set now for years at this point, and it’s finally coming out as the last single before our debut album.
More or less, ‘Phaser’ is about the weird feeling of being an artist and accidentally turning your entire existence into a performance. Whether you’re on stage, posting online, talking to people after shows, or awkwardly networking somewhere, there’s this pressure to always be ‘on’ and entertaining enough to keep people paying attention. We’re a band of mostly woman-presenting individuals, and we’ve also been navigating the music industry while figuring out how to balance how we’re perceived visually with the fact that the focus is, and always has been, our music! As mentioned in the song, sex appeal is only ‘half’ of the thrill!” – Vocalist/guitarist Jules Batterman
Julez and the Rollerz will be playing a Los Angeles Record Release show on June 28 at Zebulon. Tickets for the show are on sale now.
Interviewer: For new fans out there, can you give us some insight about who you are as a band and what led you to create this style of music?
Julez and the Rollerz: “We’re Julez and the Rollerz! We love powerpop, glam and rock n roll. Formerly a bunch of theater kids growing up and now definitely we translate that into our music and live performances!”
Interviewer: You are releasing your debut album “Dirty Little Rock ‘N’ Roller” on June 26. Did you approach the album with a specific theme or concept in mind?
Julez and the Rollerz: “Somewhat! I wanted to touch on the passage of time, relationships and friendship, love, lust and just the cycle of navigating life as a young adult.”
Interviewer: Which song best represents the band’s identity and why?
Julez and the Rollerz: “This is a tough one! Hard to say but maybe Phaser? I feel like it captures the energizing spirit we try to channel into everything we do as a band.”
Interviewer: What inspired the album title?
Julez and the Rollerz: “It’s a song lyric from one of the songs on the album called Hot Take. It’s supposed to be a tongue in cheek reference to a lot of people in the music scene and Los Angeles in general.”
Interviewer: “I Need Love” is my favorite track off this album; can you tell us more about its core message?
Julez and the Rollerz: “Core message I’d say speaks for itself in the title! We’re all looking for love; somebody to embrace everything we are. The album fluctuates between lust, the desire for real authentic love, and the anger and high emotions that comes with it all.”
Interviewer: What lessons did you learn while creating your first full-length album?
Julez and the Rollerz: “It’s hard work, expensive, and can take years to make! Especially when you’re working with a full band, you have to meet everyone in the middle to create something you’re all proud of at the end of the day. “
Interviewer: “Call Me Up” is very upbeat and unapologetic, what’s the meaning behind the lyricism?
Julez and the Rollerz: “It’s supposed to be a lustful ‘what if we just?’ ‘but we shouldn’t’ ‘winky face’ kind of vibe. “
Interviewer: Was there a particular song that was the most challenging to record?
Julez and the Rollerz: “I wouldn’t say it was the most challenging, but “Take it Back,” the last song on the album, we came into the studio with the least preparation. Especially lyrically, a lot of the song all came together in the studio and now it’s definitely one of our favorites off of the album.”
Interviewer: What do you hope listeners take away from the album?
Julez and the Rollerz: “Life is messy and chaotic and adventurous. I just want people to have fun and let loose while listening to it from start to finish.”
