Two decades after The Documentary helped put Los Angeles hip-hop back in the national spotlight, The Game is returning to the series that became one of the defining chapters of his career.
The Compton-bred rapper has officially unveiled The Documentary 3, the latest evolution of his landmark album series and a project that finds him looking backward at the legacy he built while simultaneously making his case for where Los Angeles rap belongs today.
The sprawling new release brings together an impressive collection of West Coast voices, longtime collaborators, heavyweight rap figures, and contemporary artists. The album features appearances from Drake, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, E-40, YG, Black Thought, Larry June, Drakeo The Ruler, Kalan.FrFr, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Leon Thomas, Marsha Ambrosius, Tyga, RJmrLA, Almighty Joey, Lit Papi, ArmonieJAY, Lefty Gunplay, and AZ Chike. For The Game, however, The Documentary 3 isn’t simply another sequel.
It’s a statement.
When The Documentary arrived in 2005, The Game emerged as one of the central figures in Los Angeles’ renewed hip-hop movement. Twenty years later, he’s using the third installment to revisit that era while reminding listeners that the city’s influence on rap culture hasn’t diminished.

The album’s rollout extends beyond the music itself. Today, The Game is also premiering a new visual for “Sticks,” directed by Benny Boom. The video places the rapper directly within the Los Angeles environment that has remained central to his identity, with Game performing alongside women and familiar faces against the backdrop of Pueblo Del Rio, known locally as “The Pueblos.”
Rather than presenting a polished, distant version of Los Angeles, the visual leans into the city’s neighborhoods, people, history, and street culture reinforcing the connection between The Game’s music and the place that has shaped his career.
The album campaign also includes a cinematic tracklist trailer from director Sam King, whose previous visual work includes projects involving Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, and Kehlani. The trailer draws heavily from recognizable elements of West Coast culture, including classic lowriders riding on Dayton wire wheels, Converse sneakers, and unmistakable Los Angeles street imagery.
Together, the visuals establish the world surrounding The Documentary 3 before listeners even hear the full story.
The album arrives after The Game gave fans an early taste of what was coming through Every Movie Needs A Trailer and End Credits, his Gangsta Grillz projects with DJ Drama. Created alongside GRAMMY-nominated production team Mike N Keys, the 18-track mixtape was reportedly recorded in only 48 hours and served as a bridge between The Game’s recent output and the arrival of the new LP.
That renewed momentum was further amplified by The Game’s high-profile Verzuz appearance with fellow Compton rapper YG. The event became a major celebration of Los Angeles hip-hop, attracting approximately three million live viewers while generating billions of online impressions and reigniting conversations surrounding the city’s continued influence on hip-hop.
Now, The Documentary 3 arrives at the center of that conversation.
The project represents another chapter in a career that has stretched across more than 20 years. Since breaking through with The Documentary, The Game has maintained a remarkably consistent presence within hip-hop, releasing a catalog that includes Doctor’s Advocate, The R.E.D. Album, Jesus Piece, The Documentary 2, and Born 2 Rap.
