Inspired by the image of children boarding school buses with clear backpacks, “Schoolbags” paints a heartbreaking portrait of a generation growing up in a world where safety concerns have replaced the carefree wonder many once associated with childhood. “I didn’t want to write an angry song, so I wrote it from a place of grief,” Regent explains. “I grieve my whimsical childhood knowing I might never be able to give that to my own kids.”
