Platoon has released the official soundtrack for Apple Original series “Last Seen,” arriving September 9 alongside the show’s worldwide premiere on Apple TV+. The score comes from acclaimed composer Isobel Waller-Bridge, whose work has crossed film, television, theater, ballet, electronic music, and contemporary classical composition.
Directed and executive produced by Christian Schwochow, “Last Seen” follows detective Ian Ridley, whose life was shattered when his young daughter disappeared 11 years earlier. When a distress call convinces him that she may still be alive, he becomes determined to find her, no matter what it costs.
Waller-Bridge’s score is built around that central feeling of uncertainty. Rather than simply heightening suspense, the music reflects the emotional emptiness left behind by a disappearance. Atmospheric electronics, contemporary classical textures, and evolving themes create a world where resolution always seems just out of reach.
For Waller-Bridge, the creative process began with the show’s characters and environment, eventually leading her toward a musical language centered on absence and unresolved emotion. Her collaboration with Schwochow also played an important role, with the composer describing their creative relationship as something closer to being in a band together than a traditional director-composer partnership.
The soundtrack adds another dimension to Waller-Bridge’s already expansive body of work, which includes scores for “Fleabag,” “Black Mirror,” “Emma,” “Munich: The Edge of War,” “Three Women,” and the Oscar- and BAFTA-winning “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse.”
Beyond screen music, she has created work for ballet, theater, fashion, art installations, and the concert stage. Her 2025 album Objects further explored the intersection of electronic, ambient, and contemporary classical music, while her 2022 collaboration with 12 Ensemble, VIII, showcased another side of her compositional range.
With upcoming projects including “Tomb Raider” for television and the film adaptation of Prima Facie, Waller-Bridge continues to expand her musical world. On “Last Seen,” she turns the idea of disappearance into sound, creating a score that doesn’t simply accompany the mystery; it lingers inside it.
