Saves the Day Return With Their First New Song in Eight Years, “INVADER”

After an eight-year stretch without a new original song, Saves the Day are officially back with “INVADER,” released through longtime independent label Equal Vision Records. The new track brings the band together with Walter Schreifels, the influential New York hardcore figure known for his work with Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, and Rival Schools.

INVADER” carries a strong connection to hardcore’s history while looking toward its future. Inspired in part by Youth of Today’s “Disengage,” the song centers on ideas of unity, connection, and pushing beyond the divisions that can keep people apart. Schreifels also contributes guest vocals and co-wrote the track with the band, making his involvement a particularly meaningful part of the release.

For Saves the Day, the collaboration was a long-awaited full-circle moment. The band worked with Schreifels at his studio in Upstate New York before bringing producer Steve Evetts into the process across Nashville and New Jersey. The result marks a fresh chapter for a band whose career has been deeply woven into the emo and alternative rock scenes.

The new single also arrives as Saves the Day prepare for a busy fall. The band will join Taking Back Sunday across the U.S. from September 16 through October 18, followed by a series of UK headline shows from November 17–21 celebrating the 25th anniversary of Stay What You Are. Those dates will feature Chastity and Turn of Phrase as special guests.

With “INVADER,” Saves the Day aren’t simply revisiting their past; they’re reconnecting with the spirit that helped shape them while moving that energy into something new.
