For Outer World, home is less about a physical address and more about the places, people, memories, and experiences that shape us along the way. Their new album HOME explores that idea through a collection of songs that move between intimacy, nostalgia, discovery, and emotional transformation.
The record views home as something that continually changes. What begins with the earliest sense of safety eventually becomes childhood spaces, friendships, independence, relationships, and the communities we choose for ourselves. Rather than treating home as something permanent, Outer World presents it as a feeling, a place of comfort and authenticity where we can finally let our guard down.
At the center of HOME is the creative partnership between Kenneth Close and Tracy Wilson, whose shared musical history provides the foundation for the project. Their chemistry brings together electronic textures and samples with live instrumentation, including drums, guitar, bass, keyboards, and vocals. The result is a sound that feels both familiar and difficult to categorize, reflecting years of musical influences while maintaining a distinct identity of its own.
Since the release of Who Does the Music Love?, Outer World has expanded from a duo into a six-member band, allowing the project to take its electronic-meets-organic sound into a much larger and more cinematic space. The album moves freely between styles and influences, drawing from international grooves, vintage soundtrack aesthetics, psychedelic pop, highlife, contemporary classical music, avant-garde experimentation, early punk, and more.
That eclecticism is part of what makes HOME feel so immersive. Instead of keeping genres separated, Outer World lets them interact naturally, creating a sonic world that feels collected over a lifetime. The result is music that can sound nostalgic and futuristic at the same time like opening a room filled with records, memories, photographs, and objects gathered from countless chapters of life.
Alongside the album’s release, Outer World has unveiled “Pendula,” a lush and cinematic new track built around romance, suspense, and tragedy. The song draws inspiration from Tracy Bond, the character from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, whose story has long stood apart within the James Bond universe. For Wilson, the connection is especially personal, as she was named after the same character by her father, who was a fan of the Bond books and films.
“Pendula” transforms that inspiration into something larger than a traditional love song. It carries the grandeur of a classic spy-film theme while balancing tenderness with an underlying sense of danger and loss. The track imagines a musical space where romance and tragedy exist side by side, giving one of the Bond universe’s most memorable women a sonic world of her own.
With HOME, Outer World invites listeners into a world built from shared history, chosen family, experimentation, and emotional connection; a place where seemingly distant influences can coexist and become something entirely new.
