Australian alt-rock favorites Stand Atlantic are closing out the rollout for their upcoming album GODBREATH with the release of “NEXT2U,” their latest single available today through Virgin Music Group. The band’s fifth studio album is set to arrive October 23.
Rather than focusing on traditional romance, “NEXT2U” celebrates the relationships that can feel just as powerful: lifelong friendships and chosen family. The song captures the emotional pull of being far from home while constantly missing the people who make you feel grounded. Bonnie Fraser’s heartfelt songwriting is matched by soaring melodies, forceful drums, and gritty guitar work, giving the track both emotional vulnerability and an expansive rock energy.
Fraser describes the song as a tribute to the friends and loved ones waiting back home while the band travels the world. Its message is ultimately about wanting to be close to the people who matter most, even when distance makes that impossible.
The release arrives as Stand Atlantic prepares for an extensive run of live dates. The band will headline shows across Australia throughout October and November before returning to the U.S. for Vans Warped Tour in Orlando. They’ll then join Story of the Year and Silverstein for a series of American dates beginning November 16 in Seattle, with stops planned in cities including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston. The band will also appear with Simple Plan for select UK arena performances.
“NEXT2U” follows earlier GODBREATH singles “Velcro,” “LUCID,” and “EDGE OF VEGAS,” giving fans another glimpse into the direction of the new record. Across the album, Stand Atlantic blend modern pop-punk with early-2000s pop-rock influences while leaning into a more spontaneous recording approach and Fraser’s intensely personal songwriting.
