Rock band The Audacity are bringing a personal memory to life with the release of the official music video for “Malibu,” now available to watch alongside the single’s release across streaming platforms. Featuring vocalist Tyler Carter (Issues, ONE OK ROCK), guitarist and producer Dru “Falconry” DeCaro (Miguel, mgk, Dua Lipa), and drummer Manny Dominick (Wiz Khalifa, Gym Class Heroes), the trio combines an impressive musical pedigree with a shared appetite for taking rock in unexpected directions. The video was directed by Dylan Bieber.
For Carter, “Malibu” began with a place that represents peace, comfort, and a welcome escape from anxiety. While working through anxiety in therapy, he was encouraged to visualize a personal “happy place.” Malibu repeatedly came to mind, connected to cherished memories and moments of tranquility spent with people he loves.
That feeling became even more meaningful after the pandemic, when Carter brought friends to Malibu who had never experienced it before. Driving through the canyon with the top down and introducing them to AC/DC made for a liberating day that ultimately inspired the song. As Carter explained, the track also marks the band’s first collaboration together, making its release an important milestone for The Audacity. After sitting with the song for some time, the band felt it was finally ready to be shared with the world.

Since introducing themselves with “Real Talk Fake Friends,” The Audacity have established a sound rooted in intensity, honesty, and a willingness to confront uncomfortable subjects. Their subsequent releases have explored different dimensions of that approach, from the personal confession of “>ENOUGH” to “More Money Morphine,” a punk-fueled critique of Big Pharma. Meanwhile, “Matterhorn” delivers a rallying cry for perseverance, encouraging listeners to keep moving forward when life becomes difficult.
The band’s momentum extends beyond its releases. The Audacity have performed alongside ONE OK ROCK at two sold-out shows in Los Angeles and Atlanta, accumulated more than 1.5 million streams across digital platforms, and raised over $5,000 for Musicians on Call through their independently produced Big Damn Charity Jam in Los Angeles.
With “Malibu,” the band offers another perspective on its creative identity, drawing from personal experience to capture the freedom that can emerge from meaningful memories and human connection. As The Audacity continue to expand their reach, they remain committed to making music that confronts life’s challenges head-on while encouraging listeners to find their own strength, embrace their individuality, and turn difficult experiences into something powerful.
