Music fans have another reason to start planning their festival season. Kilby Block Party is officially returning to Salt Lake City, Utah, for its eighth annual celebration, bringing together an impressive lineup of 70 artists for three days of live music, community, and discovery.
Taking place May 14–16, 2027, at the Utah State Fairpark, the festival’s latest edition is shaping up to be one of its biggest yet. Leading this year’s lineup are Deftones, The Strokes, Jungle, Fontaines D.C., and Slayyyter, alongside an expansive selection of additional performers spanning different sounds and corners of the music world.
Since its beginnings, Kilby Block Party has developed a reputation for offering something beyond the traditional festival experience. Rather than simply assembling a collection of popular names, the event has become known for its thoughtful artist selections, diverse musical programming, and atmosphere that encourages fans to discover something new. That approach has earned plenty of recognition, including praise from Lorde, who described last year’s festival as “the absolute coolest festival ever.”
The festival’s appeal also extends beyond its performances. Attendees can expect a weekend filled with opportunities to connect with fellow music lovers, explore local businesses, and experience the creative culture that makes Salt Lake City such an important part of the event.
Away from the main stages, festivalgoers can explore Vendor Village, featuring independent creatives, record vendors, artist merchandise, and advocacy organizations. Food and beverage selections will also be available throughout the grounds, while the festival’s annual skateboarding competition, The Crusher Cup, will bring another element of entertainment to the weekend. Those looking to keep the celebrations going after the final performances can also explore official aftershows hosted at smaller venues throughout the city.

A Festival That’s Become Part of Salt Lake City’s Music Culture
What originally started in 2019 as a single-day celebration honoring the 20th anniversary of beloved local venue Kilby Court has transformed into a major destination for independent music fans. Today, Kilby Block Party attracts audiences from across the country and around the world, with last year’s event welcoming more than 30,000 attendees per day.
Its influence also reaches beyond the festival grounds. The 2026 edition brought nearly 16,000 visitors from outside Utah, generating an estimated $24.7 million in visitor spending. Overall, the festival contributed approximately $33.5 million to Utah’s gross domestic product, generated $3.3 million in state and local tax revenue, and supported an estimated 419 jobs for residents.
Those numbers reflect how much the event has grown, not only as a destination for music enthusiasts but also as an important contributor to the surrounding community. With its combination of established headliners, emerging artists, local culture, and experiences that extend beyond the stage, Kilby Block Party continues to establish its own identity within the festival landscape.
